Rapper Snoop Dogg “Calvin Broadus” has been formally charged with one felony count of knowingly possessing a dangerous weapon by California authorities.
Snoop Dogg was arrested on September 27 at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif., after allegedly trying to board a plane while carrying a 21-inch collapsible police baton in a computer case.
“These charges are bogus. The DA knows that, Snoop knows that. If this goes to trial, we will win,” the rapper’s lawyer Donald Etra said Thursday afternoon.
If convicted, Snoop Dogg faces a potential maximum of three years in state penitentiary. Bail was set at $150,000.
On October 26, Snoop Dogg was arrested a second time at Burbank, Calif.’s Bob Hope Airport on suspicion of possessing marijuana and a handgun, according to police.
“There was no basis for this arrest,” Etra said earlier. “We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed.”
After being taken into custody, Snoop Dogg was freed on $35,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 12 to be arraigned.
