A “close friend” of Rihanna has revealed that the pop superstar is “appalled” by Chris Brown’s ‘sorry and saddened‘ statement that the singer released over what happened between him and his girlfriend Rihanna.

“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” stated Brown in the statement released by his publicist.

“I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person,” he added.

According to the friend of Rihanna, the singer is “royally pissed off” by what Rihanna calls Brown’s “cavalier and arrogant statement.”

“All of us, including Rihanna, don’t understand how he can say he’s sorry on the one hand, but still does not admit any guilt,” the close friend of Rihanna stated to Chicago Sun-Times on Monday. “He should have expressed more contrition.”

This comes around the same time that the singer’s father, Robert Fenty, recently confirmed that the celebrity couple may have called it quits producing the latest controversial celebrity break-up.

“The relationship is over and I am pleased. She doesn’t want to speak to Chris. She is being very brave about things and said that she will be back on stage performing soon,” Ronald Fenty stated to sources.

The break-up between Brown and Rihanna may have first been confirmed by Chris Brown who reportedly changed his Facebook relationship status to single, which he later denied in his statement.

“While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds,” Brown expressed in his statement.

As of yet, there has been no official comments or statement from Rihanna, who, according to her father, has been in her homeland of Barbados since February 12th to be with family and friends taking time to heal.

Brown is scheduled for court March 5th, 2009 and faces possible jail time after being charged by Los Angeles police with making criminal threats following his alleged fight with ex-girlfriend Rihanna around the time of the 51st Grammy Awards, and after a Clive Davis pre-Grammy party.

In connection with this news, Chris Brown has reportedly hired Mel Gibson’s publicist, Alan Nierob, in an effort to limit any further damage to his career from his recent arrest and assault allegations.
