MTV Teams with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Mark Burnett For Next Music Star On Starmaker

Sean Diddy Combs
MTV (Music Television) has teamed up with Sean “Diddy Combs” (Bad Boy) and Mark Burnet to search for the next American music star in a new reality television series titled “Starmaker”. Combs who has been developing the show concept since ‘07 recently brought on Burnett this spring in effort to push the show forth and was given the green light for January of ‘09.

The show “Starmarker” is a spinoff of “Making The Band,” and its goal is to seek and find the next male or female aspiring solo act and not a band. Like “Making The Band,” contestants on “Starmaker” who are selected will be competing against others that they will be sharing living space with to meet Combs’ high demands and expectations.

Contestants will go through a vigorous bootcamp and will have to perform in front of an audience every week, be tested on handling photo shoots, dealing with the paparazzi, how they uphold to physical performances on stage and much much more.

“It’s a privilege to partner with Mark Burnett on my latest television venture. He is one of the industry’s best. I am confident that we will do great things together with “StarMaker” and beyond,” remarks Sean Combs in a release.

“I’m looking forward to collaborating with MTV and Sean Combs on this new project” said Mark Burnett. “StarMaker will open the door to the tremendous amount of talent out there just waiting to be discovered. We’ve created a platform that will allow new and emerging artists a chance to showcase their talents to some of the industry’s best.”

“Sean Combs and Mark Burnett are leaders in the entertainment industry and have both been an integral part of MTV’s success throughout the years,” said Tony DiSanto, EVP Series Development & Programming, MTV. “Getting these two titans of media together, with their long history of hits across platforms but especially in TV and music is a formula for spectacle, drama and the unexpected.”
