Heavy D’s Passing Was Due To Blood Clot

It has been determined that Heavy D passed away due to a blood clot in his lung also known as a pulmonary embolism.

A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs — most often caused by blood clots which travel in from other parts of the body. In Heavy’s case, the clot was formed in his legs.

There long flight back from L.A. from a Michael Jackson memorial concert may have also been a contributing factor.

Craig Harvey, chief of the Los Angeles County department of coroner, said Heavy D’s death could have been brought on by a clot caused by an extended flight.

Officials from the L.A. County Coroner’s Office say Heavy also suffered from heart disease, which could have been a contributing factor in his death.

The Coroner’s Office has classified the death as “natural.”

Heavy D passed away on November 9, 2011 at the age of 44.
