Gillette, a company owned by Procter & Gamble, announced that they are phasing Tiger Woods out of their ads while he sorts out his personal problems. Gillette was the first sponsor to halt Tiger’s endorsement ads due to his affairs with his multiple mistresses.
A spokesperson for Gillette says, “As Tiger takes a break from the public eye, we will support his desire for privacy by limiting his role in our marketing programs.”
Corporate giant AT&T is also severing ties with Woods stating, “We support Tiger’s decision and our thoughts will be with him and his family. We are presently evaluating our ongoing relationship with him.”
Meanwhile, TMZ reported that Nike is supporting Tiger Woods and is already anticipating his return after Woods released a statement on his website saying he has quit golfing altogether.
“Tiger has been part of Nike for more than a decade. He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf. He and his family have Nike’s full support,” says a spokesperson for Nike.
