Fantasia Barrino Spotted in NYC In ‘Skin’ Tights; Prepping To Release New Album

Fantasia Barrino was spotted arriving and walking through the La Guardia airport in New York City yesterday on Tuesday wearing skin-tight, black footless tights. ‘The Color Purple’ and former American Idol star/R&B songstress spoke with paparazzi and even signed autographs for fans.
As previously mentioned, Fantasia who starred in the Oprah Winfrey musical ‘The Color Purple,’ is also set to star in the Oprah Winfrey produced film adaptation of The Color Purple musical.
Fantasia, who played Celie in the musical, won the 2007 Theatre World Awards for her role and will be playing Celie in the Oprah Winfrey film adaptation of ‘The Color Purple’ as well.
The Color Purple film is set to begin production with Fantasia as Celie after the release of Fantasia’s third solo album reportedly entitled “Him vs. Them,” according to Fantasia in a past interview.
“We haven’t started [the Color Purple film] yet because I’m going to work on my album. I think it’s fair that I committed myself, and promised that after I finish going on a tour, I’ll be ready to come back and commit myself to Miss Celie again,” stated Fantasia regarding filming as Celie for the film adaptation of The Color Purple musical.
Fantasia’s album reportedly entitled “Him vs. Them” is set to release sometime this summer 2009. The first single off the album self-entitled “Him vs. Them” was reportedly written by Tank, co-written by Fantasia and produced by Midi Mafia.
In related news, Fantasia has also signed on to appear at this year’s 42nd Annual Hampton Jazz Festival. The three day festival which will be held June 25-28 in Hampton, VA, at the Hampton Coliseum also features performers Patti Labelle, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Ledisi, Robin Thicke, Michael McDonald, The O’Jays and more. Tickets for the 42nd Annual Hampton Jazz Festival go on sale Saturday, March 28.
