Solange Knowles Signs With Geffen, Working On New Album
Branded as the shadow of Beyonce, Solange Knowles has been paving her on way. Recently Solange Knowles signed with Geffen Records and is currently working on her second album which will be released sometime in 2008. On this album the singer/actress says that she is writing more than 80 percent of the songs. But hey, don’t judge now, she has penned a few songs for her sister’s album, possibly the ones you’ve been dancing to.
“Her record is totally bananas,†Geffen Records chairman Ron Fair tells Billboard Magazine. “It’s not what people would expect from her. The music is more eclectic and international. She’s in her own lane.â€
“It’s a touch of retro with beautiful R&B songs and influences of early Natalie Cole and Carole King, and she’s only 22,†he continued. “I’m crazy about the Pharrell Williams’ record that she recently finished, called ‘I Decided.’ We’re finishing the album now.â€
You should be expecting to hear songs featuring Q-Tip, Marsha Ambrosius from Floetry and others. Just don’t flatter yourself with the album title which is reportedly entitled, “Solange & The Hadley Street Dreams”.
In an interview with Essence the Solange stated, “I wasn’t going to do another record because I didn’t want to be in the limelight. I liked staying home with my son and expressing myself through writing. But things happened in my life that I wanted to discuss and vent about, so that’s how the record came about.”
