Travis Barker explains how he will be collaborating with Yelawolf, and Yelawolf talks about their friendship together when they first met. Travis Barker and Yelawolf started to discuss their project “Psycho White,” which came out of the blue.

The way both artists told Billboard in a recent interview, coming together to record was a gradual process.

Travis Barker stated that he was introduced to Yelawolf’s “Trunk Muzik” through his manager. “He said, ‘Check this kid out. He looks like you but he’s a rapper,’” recalled Barker. “I thought he was fucking ridiculous.”

Later on the two of them met at Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory in Los Angeles. Yelawolf linked up with Travis Barker on Lil Wayne’s 2009 “I Am Music” tour, “Yelawolf said he wanted a real high-energy track. It was 4 a.m., and everyone was getting sloppy in the hotel lobby,” said Barker. “I had a portable studio. I went to my room and right there recorded the drums to ‘Psycho White’s’ first single ‘Push ‘Em.’”

Yelawolf stated that they both had instant chemistry when they met in Los Angeles. “Even if he and I had never heard each other’s music before, we just knew,” he says. “We had a kindred vision.”"
