Snoop Dogg, DJ Whoo Interview

Rihanna Gucci Tattoo Heart Collection
Pop singer Rihanna is in a campaign for Gucci’s “Tattoo Heart Collection,” which will be donating proceeds to UNICEF. Rihanna is currently a spokesmodel for Gucci and has been working with Director Frida Giannini on the brand’s 2008 Holiday ad campaign.

Def Jam VP Shakir Stewart
Vice president executive of Def Jam Recording, Shakir Stewart died on Saturday of an alleged suicide.

Before becoming Vice president of Def Jam, Stewart was the VP of A&R at Def Jam and worked with artists such as Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and Karina Pasian whom he brought on to the label.

Myspace Music
Myspace music who’s top artists consists mainly of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop acts recently launched a new service for majors which independent labels are stating has excluded them. The new ad-supported service which launched on Thursday, allows Myspace users the ability to stream hundreds of thousands of songs for free, share playlists with friends from across the globe for songs from all four of the major labels that have claimed their stakes in the new venture (EMI, Universal Music, Sony BMG and Warner Music) and independent music distributor The Orchard.

Pop singer Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson announced on Monday, September 22nd that she will no longer be a part of the Island Def Jam Records roster after 14 months. According to the singer’s publicist the label agreed to dissolve the relationship upon Jackson’s request after the label failed to promote her album and meet her expectations.

Birdman and Lil Wayne
Louisiana bred rapper Lil Wayne’s label announced on September 15th they have re-signed the rap star to a multi-album deal. The rapper currently has released six albums with the label in which he joined as teenager. Wayne’s latest album The Carter III made this year’s highest selling rap album (2.4 million) in a music industry were music sales are stated to be in a slump.

Source Magazine New Office
Earlier Monday, reports broke that The Source magazine had been evicted from it’s Manhattan office suite in New York, however the magazine has responded in a letter titled “Hi Haters” stating that they weren’t evicted but simply moved to a new office located in the same building.
