VH1 Hip Hop Honors’ Red Carpet Pre-Show to Air Exclusively on VSPOT

NEW YORK, Oct. 3 — Former “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” honorees Salt, Pepa and Spinderella will host this year’s red carpet and backstage interviews at “VH1 Hip Hop Honors.” For the first time in VH1′s history, pre- show event footage will be seen exclusively on VSPOT, VH1′s broadband
channel.

Red carpet interviews and backstage footage will be available on VSPOT at https://hiphop.vh1.com beginning at 6PM ET on October 17. Hosted by Ice T, the third annual “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” honoring the music and influence of Ice Cube, Wu-Tang Clan, Afrika Bambaataa, Russell Simmons, MC Lyte, Rakim, Beastie Boys, and Eazy E. will be broadcast on VH1 at 9PM ET/PT that day.

Additionally, for the month of October, VH1′s digital properties – VSPOT and VH1 Mobile – will remix your hip hop digital experience with extensive and exclusive hip hop-focused content in celebration of “VH1 Hip Hop Honors.” VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul will also air special programs dedicated to hip hop throughout October.

VH1 pays homage to the hip hop pioneers and luminaries who transformed the genre into a true cultural phenomenon with the third annual “VH1 Hip Hop Honors,” premiering Tuesday, October 17 at 9PM ET/PT. The music and influence of each of the honorees will be recognized through performances by classic artists in collaboration with today’s hottest new talent. Hosted by Ice T, this year’s celebration will honor Ice Cube, Wu-Tang Clan, Afrika Bambaataa, Russell Simmons, MC Lyte, Rakim, Beastie Boys and Eazy E. With the exception of Russell Simmons, Afrika Bambaataa and Eazy E, all the honorees are set to take the stage and showcase their legendary talent, along with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Bootsy Collins, Shawna, Lil Eazy-E, Black Ice, Lil Kim, Diddy, Fat Joe, Lil Jon, Da Brat, Xzibit, Talib Kweli, Remy Ma, Q-Tip, Common, The Roots, George Clinton, Young Jeezy, Erykah Badu and KRS-One.

Hosted by Ice T, “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” will be taped at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on October 7 and will include appearances by Outkast, Tracy Morgan and Mike Epps. Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson of the Roots will be this year’s musical director.

Seattle’s Mayor Nickel Presents Hip-Hop Awards

Seattle’s Mayor Greg Nickels will be hosting the Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in Hip-Hop. The event is set to take place on October 7th with the reception beginning at 5 and the ceremony beginning from 6pm to 9pm at the City Hall located on 600 Fourth Ave.

The awards with honor those in the local hip-hop community as well as those delivering community service and entrepreneurial achievement. The event will include performances by local artists and national star Silk and a special address from Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman.

Redman To Host High Times Stony Awards in NY

Rapper/Actor Redman will be hosting this year’s 6th annual High Times Stony Awards in New York along with co-host comedian Doug Benson (“The Marijuana-Logues,” V-H1′s “Best Week Ever”).

The Stony Awards celebrate the highest and stoniest movies and TV shows of the past year and will be on October 24 at B.B. King’s. Awards are given out in twenty-one categories including Best Pot Scene in a movie, Best Reality TV series and Stoner of the Year among others.

This year’s nominees include “Weeds,” “Entourage,” “A Scanner Darkly,” “Real Time with Bill Maher” and “Grandma’s Boy.”

Following the show Redman will be performing a live “after-party” set.

Nominees expected to attend, as well as presenters, will be announced in the weeks leading up to the awards. Fans can vote on several of the categories and view a complete list of the nominees by logging on to High Times’ website.

Justin Timberlake To Host MTV Europe Music Awards

Memphis native Mr. Sexyback himself, Justin Timberlake will be the host for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. The singer is also slated to perform live at the ceremony, along with a number of other acts including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nelly Furtado and British band Muse.

Justin states that he’s very excited about being the host this year. He’s actually working on a number of ideas with MTV at the present time and has some new parts for the show. “We’re going to take over the city!”, says Justin.

Justin Timberlake is currently nominated for two awards, “Best Male” and “Best Pop Act”, and is currently bumping heads with Robbie Williams for the two awards.

The ceremony will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on November 2 and will be aired on MTV live.

Some of the other artists nominated include Kanye West, Pharrell, Sean Paul, Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas, Pussycat Dolls, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, P. Diddy, Rihanna, Mary J. Blidge, Outkast, Pink, etc.

Mariah Carey Storms Music Awards


Mariah “Mimi” Carey was looking like she’d never make a comeback on the charts with her last album, but ever since her release of The Emancipation of Mimi, she’s killing off all who dare tries to touch her.

So far she’s been receiving nods from everyone and racking up on a number of music awards and is expected to receive even more awards with one being this year’s American Music Awards which will be held November 21.

Last year Mariah Carey led the ceremony with four nominations, but eventually ended up with one of the four awards. This year Mariah is nominated for favorite Soul/R&B female artists, favorite Pop/Rock Female and favorite Pop/Rock album.

Inaddition to Mariah being nominated, also singer turned actor Jamie Foxx, the Pussycat Dolls, and Queen of Hip Hop Mary J Blidge are up for awards.

Beyonce Does It Sexy at MTV Awards

If you missed the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, which was in New York, August 31, 2006, then you missed a very sexy body-clenching performance by singer Beyonce Knowles.

Starting out wearing a full-length trenchcoat, Beyonce performed a hip-hop dance routine with 10 lookalikes afterwards revealing this sexy outfit underneath.

Her performance was followed by a standing ovation from the audience.

Lil Kim To Perform At VH1 Hip Hop Honors

Lil Kim (Kimberly Jones) will be one of many to perform at the 3rd annual “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” on Tuesday, October 17 at 9PM. The awards will be hosted by no other than the once infamous bad boy Ice T.

Lil Kim will be one of many acts to honor the hip hop pioneers, with her performance honoring female rap veteran MC Lyte whereas she will be performing “Lyte As A Rock.”

The “VH1 Hip Hop Honors” awards is focused on recognizing the hip hop pioneers who helped shape and mold what it was and still is today. Each of the honorees will be recognized through performances by today’s hottest new and upcoming talent.

This year’s VH1 awards will honor Ice Cube,Wu-Tang Clan, Afrika Bambaataa, Russell Simmons, MC Lyte, Rakim, Beastie Boys and Eazy E.
