Steven Tyler sends out a statement about Nicki Minaj’s claims abut him being a racist. Former “American Idol” judge and leader singer of the band Aerosmith, Steven Tyler criticized Nicki Minaj’s role as a judge on “American Idol.” He stated that Nicki Minaj would’ve sent Bob Dylan to the “cornfield,” if he had auditioned in this season. Nicki Minaj heard about his comments and tweeted that he was being racist.

In a recent interview on a Canadian talk show, Steven Tyler sent out an apology to Nicki Minaj, and denies being racist. He also confirmed that he wasn’t jealous of Minaj taking over his spot as a judge on “American Idol.”

“I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki,” said the singer. “But I am the farthest thing from being a racist … I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist. I don’t know where she got that out of me saying I’m not sure how she would have judged Bob Dylan.”

Steven Tyler explained that he meant, “if Bob Dylan came on the show, he would’ve been thrown off.”

“Maybe I spoke out of turn,” said the singer. “But a racist I’m not, Nicki.”
