Pharrell Williams Records With HMI Orchestra

Pharrell has decided to team up with some raw upcoming talent as he recently recorded with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra.

Footage was released (January 15) on Neptunes fan site TheNeptunes.org of Grammy Award-winning producer Pharrell Williams recording with the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music’s H.M.I. Orchestra, on a new theme titled “I Am Other.”

Pharrell Williams was inspired to hired the all-student Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra after he received a recommendation from legendary producer, composer and good friend Quincy Jones.

He composed the mixed-genre orchestral work to explore a different side of his musical creativity.

He also encourages Hip-Hop fan’s to expand and explore their musical horizons.

The theme was recorded at the University of Miami’s Gusman Concert Hall and was orchestrated and conducted by Shelly Berg with the assistance of Paul Griffith, Director of Recording Services at the Frost School of Music, who acted as the session’s recording engineer.
