Curtis Jackson, a.k.a. 50 Cent now has the starring role in the new movie, “Things Fall Apart.” The movie depicts a young jock, Deon Barnes, whose life is glamorous and very promising until he is diagnosed with cancer during his senior year in college.
For the movie role, as reported on www.HipHopRx.com, 50 Cent lost fifty-four pounds in order to look sickly enough to play the role which caused quite a stir online back in May of 2010. Even in the movie, he even sports a bald head, making one of hip-hop’s most notorious, unrecognizable.
The rapper, originally from Queens, co-wrote the movie with Brian A. Miller.
According to Fifty, the motivation for this movie came from his best friend, Charles Pringle, who lived across the street from him. Pringle actually died from his cancer.
The movie “Things Fall Apart” also stars Ray Liotta, Lynn Whitfield, Ambyr Childers, Tracey Heggins, Steve Eastin, Elizabeth Rodriguez, amongst others.
A release date for the Mario Van Peebles directed movie has not yet been set. Please be sure to check out the video clip.
