Tennessee born Georgia woman Besse Cooper, 114, Named World’s Oldest Person



Besse Cooper worlds oldest woman - 2011 Guinness World Records
A 114 year old Georgia woman got a visit from Guinness World Records on Thursday (March 10) at the Monroe, GA. nursing home where she resides.

During a small ceremony at a Monroe, GA. nursing home, Besse Cooper, 114, received a plaque from Guinness World Records certifying her as the world’s oldest living person.

Cooper excitedly accepted the plaque as her family stood by her.

According to her son Sid Cooper, 75, relatives of Besse Cooper never imagined she would end up being the world’s oldest living person.

According to the Los Angeles-based Gerontology Research Group, Besse Cooper took the title of ‘World’s Oldest Living Person’ after the death of Eunice G. Sanborn of Texas.

Besse Cooper was born in Tennessee on Aug. 26, 1896.
