Singer Ray J is addressing his statements after being accused of actually starting the Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim hip hop beef after an outburst on stage with Lil Kim claiming there was a lot of ‘imposters’ out there while calling Lil Kim the ‘best female rapper.’
Ray J, in regards to starting the beef, claims that he didn’t actually do that because he never named anyone and simply put, that’s just “what you do in hip hop” when you throw something out there for a little friendly competition.
In his interview with DJ Envy and Angela Yee of New York’s Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM) Breakfast Club, Ray J clarifies his views saying that, he felt like that at the time but he is now “impressed” with Nicki Minaj.
Ray J, after being questioned whether he had Nicki Minaj’s album or not, claims that though he likes Nicki Minaj he didn’t have the album but his sister Brandy “is like the number one Nicki Minaj fan.”
Ray J later defined his admiration for Nicki Minaj claiming that though he got to pay respects to Lil Kim, his thoughts on Nicki Minaj now are like night and day saying at first she was cool, but got better and better and is now “on point.”
