Former G-Unit Exec Sha Money XL Appointed Senior VP of AnR at Def Jam Records

Sha Money XL, who’s real name is Michael Clervoix III, was appointed Senior Vice President of A&R at Def Jam Records.

The former president of G-Unit Records, Sha Money XL, has now been appointed Senior Vice President of A&R at Def Jam Records, a label that was founded by Hip-Hop pioneers Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin.

The executive is excited about bringing change to the label.

“It’s a true blessing to be part of this amazing team of professionals with a roster of the dopest artist in the industry,” Sha Money told AllHipHop.com. “I have a complete focus to elevate the industry and feed the future with new artists and producers. Bring some true excitement back.”

XL also says that Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid has faith that he will carry on the legacy of Def Jam.

“L.A. Reid believed in my capabilities to make and identify hits and Brand Def Jam for what we know it as,” adding, “Def Jam is the illest rap label that was ever built.”

Sha Money began his career as an intern for the label and he is happy to be back.

“I started here as an Intern in ’97 under Jam Master Jay and Julie Greenwald (now an executive at Warner Music) and now back here with an complete experienced mind set to continue to give the people what they want…great music.”
