Radio personality DJ Hideo, who has worked on the Steve Harvey Morning Show and Soul Assassins Radio with Cypress Hill, has succumbed to colon and liver cancer at 42.

Hideo checked into Missions Hospital in Los Angeles last week because of weakness and pain. He wrote in his blog shortly before his death that he needed a ventilator to breathe though his vitals were stable.

In a personal post, Hideo wrote that due to weakness he was feeling for the past week, his vitals were stable at the time, but he needed the assistance of a ventilator in order to breathe.

“I’m very aware of my condition and communicate in writing. Right now, the one thing I really do miss is drinking a nice ice cold soda,” Hideo wrote.

Hideo was in severe pain and had told doctors not to resuscitate him. He died at 3:30pm on April 24th.

The DJ was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2009. Hideo had been working for KKBT 100.3 The Beat as the Mixshow Director and Program and Production Assistant.
