Nicole Richie, Joel Madden Getting Married; Shows Off Engagement Ring (Photos)

Reality Star and singer Nicole Richie, daughter to legendary singer Lionel Richie, and Good Charlotte front-man Joel Madden has announced their engagement.

Joel Madden, lead singer for the punk rock group Good Charlotte, announced via his twitter account that he and girlfriend Nicole Richie are engaged on Monday Feb. 15th. Later that night Richie appeared for a taping of the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ in which she confirmed the engagement.

“We actually recently are engaged,” Richie told David Letterman.

Joel Madden’s Twitter post about the engagement has since been removed awaiting Richie’s appearance on ‘The Late Show with Letterman’ that is not scheduled to air until Friday Feb 19th. Their plan is to wait until the airing of the show to confirm their engagement, although Joel Madden has already spilled the beans via Twitter that Nicole Richie and him have been engaged for some time now.

Since 2006, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have been together. The two currently have two children together, Harlow Winter Kate Madden, born January 11, 2008 and son Sparrow James Midnight Madden, born September 9, 2009.

In related news, the reality star and socialite showed off her sparkly Neil Lane engagement ring at her Winter Kate Spring 2010 collection launch at Bloomingdale’s in New York on Tuesday. The ring is an estimated 4 carats.
