Jay-Z, along with The Rutgers Symphony Orchestra will appear in a pre-game music video just before the 6:28 Super Bowl XLIV kick-off between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts.

The Rutgers Symphony Orchestra along with the Rutgers Sinfonia traveled to New York City on Tuesday and met up with Jay Z to film the two minute video. The music video will air on CBS just before kick-off between the Saints and the Colts on Super Bowl Sunday.

Some 65 musicians from Rutgers performed an adaptation of Jay-Z’s hit single “Run This Town” that was orchestrated to include the NFL and CBS theme songs. The school was picked to do the job about two weeks ago. Probably because the composer of the adaptation had worked with the Rutgers marching band in the past.

“It’s a totally different part of the performing arts. For classical musicians, it’s not really what we teach and not really what we do,” said Maestro Kynan Johns.

“It was an honor to work with a talented performer and artist like Jay-Z,” says Melissa Healy, a flautist and doctoral student.

The orchestrated version of Jay-Z’s hit “Run This Town” runs just before the 6:28pm Super Bowl XLIV kick-off on CBS (Sunday Feb. 7th)
