During his interview with CNN, Wyclef Jean pled to anyone with information about the location of Jimmy O, saying, “I urge everyone who’s listening right now, that knows how great this kid is in Haiti - I need y’all to verify this information. It would be a terrible loss for us.”

The grief-stricken mother of Jimmy O, his wife and two of his three children were at the horrific scene when his body was identified. As you can imagine, they were overcome with heartache. CNN was also at the scene as a man examined the body and pulled the passport from his pocket, verifying the corpse as Jean “Jimmy O” Jimmy Alexandre.

Agent Robert Dominique was also present and reported that Jimmy O’s loss will be “tremendous in Haiti.”

In addition to helping run the Yele Haiti Charity, he also developed new talent and artists in Haiti.

As of Friday morning, Yele Haiti has raised more than 2 million dollars from mobile donations according to Albe Angel, C.E.O. of Miami-based ‘Give on the Go,’ the mobile communications company working with Yele Haiti to coordinate donations. Yele Haiti has also provided thousands of children with scholarships since it’s founding in 2004. However, it is feared that even though they have raised $2 million through the organization, it is still not enough. They are estimating that at least 1 mil. a day is necessary.
