Wyclef Jean’s Yele Raises 1Mil To Aid After Haiti Earthquake (Footage, Photos)
As reported on HipHopRX.com, Singer Wyclef Jean has a non-profit organization, Yele Haiti, that is raising unds in aid of Haiti after the country’s tragic earthquake and and so far, the organization has raised over one million dollars for the victims of the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake through mobile donations alone.
With a series of tweets, help from his famous friends and an appearance on CNN, Wyclef has put together a massive effort on behalf of his homeland, imploring followers to text “Yele” to 501501 in order to donate five dollars to the cause.
Yele’s goal is to bring the figure up to 1 mil. a day as part of the SMS fundraising drive. Miami-based ‘Give on the Go’ has announced that 100% of the funds raised will go directly to ‘Yele Haiti.’ The Jolie-Pitt (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt) foundation has also pledged 1 mil. to the emergency medical operations of ‘Doctor’s Without Borders.’
