Kanye West Leads 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards; Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, T.I. Follow

BET announced the nominees for the 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards, and Kanye West, who made headlines for his controversial tantrum in which he snatched the microphone from Country star Taylor Swift during the MTV VMA’s, is in the lead with the most nominations followed by rappers Lil Wayne, Jay-Z and incarcerated rapper T.I.

Kanye West managed to get 9 nominations while Jay-Z and Lil Wayne is going head-up with 7 nominations and T.I., who is currently in prison on Federal gun charges, picked up 6 nominations.

In addition to adding two new categories “Made-You-Look Award (Best Hip Hop Style)” and “Best Hip-Hop Blog Site,” legendary and veteran rapper Ice Cube, most known from the 1980′s West Coast rap group N.W.A., will be honored as the “I Am Hip-Hop” Icon Award Recipient.

The BET Hip Hop Awards 2009 will be hosted by comedian and actor Mike Epps and will be taped live at Atlanta’s
Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center on Saturday, October 10th and airs Tuesday, October 27 at 8PM.
