Rapper Lil Wayne appeared in court today on charges stemming from January 2008, in which he was arrested after cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun were found on his tour bus in Yuma County, Arizona after attempting to pass through a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint, as reported on HipHopRX.com.

In court, Lil Wayne’s attorney, James Tilson, told the judge that the dogs who sniffed the tour bus weren’t reliable and questioned their training. In addition, Tilson is arguing that the search that took place was illegal and hopes to gain video recorded by border cameras by placing a renew request.

Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, 26, is facing weapons charges along with possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The rap artist and young businessman previously plead not guilty on all charges and is due back in court August 11, 2009.
