A host of hip hop music and R&B music acts took the stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam 2009 which was reportedly in front of a sold out show of over 50,000 fans in attendance.
Jay-Z, Mary J Blige, Lil Kim, T-Pain, The-Dream, Pleasure P formerly of Pretty Ricky, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, Fabolous, new comer Jeremih, amongst others took the stage at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on June 7. The event, which was hosted by Hot 97′s Angie Martinez and 30 Rock star and comedian Tracy Morgan, was set in the stadium as the last show before the stadium’s demolition.
Joining in on the celebration was Soulja Boy, Kid Cudi, Ron Browz, Ryan Leslie and more. There was bottle popping, money throwing and more as artists set the tone at the grand event.
Jay-Z performed his first single from off his album Blueprint 3, “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune),” which is a controversial song drawing mixed responses across the Internet due to it’s harsh criticism of the audio vocal box which is highly popular with artists today due somewhat to T-Pain who has been credited for reviving the vocal effect.
Speaking of T-Pain, the artist, who was sporting his new jewelry, the 10lb “Big Ass Chain” pendant reported on HipHopRX.com as valued at $410K, took the stage with Lil Kim to perform the new song “Download.”
Rapper Soulja Boy came on stage and performed his chart-topping song “Turn My Swag On” in the midst of the Dipset performance with Jim Jones who threw in a mix of songs during his set.
Others guests and performances included Drake, Busta Rhymes, Day26, Maino, Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz, Method Man, Red Man, Elephant Man, DJ Webstar and more.
