Nicki Minaj: ‘How Did It Feel When Lil Wayne Signed Her?’

Nicki Minaj talks one-on-one with BET and LowKey about being signed with Lil Wayne, what she has learned from him and much more.
“I feel excited because it’s me, but I feel disappointed that we’ve gotten to this place,” Nicki Minaj stated regarding being one of only a few females representing hip hop or “the only female representing in hip-hop” as quoted in the question by BET to the female MC signed to Lil Wayne’s label Young Money Entertainment.
“I wish females could be just as relevant as the males… but I’m happy that my momentum is picking up so I guess I can’t complain,” Minaj added.
Then the female MC went on to talk about how she felt being signed on to Lil Wayne’s label:
“After I started screaming, I mean after I stopped screaming.. it was like wow.. I didn’t know why he really would like me.. cause you know I was still real real new. When he had saw.. that was the first thing I had ever done.. the first come up dvd that I had ever done. He just liked it.. I don’t know why.. to be honest.. til this day he’s never really told me what it was about me .. but he said in a record one time I did with him.. Sunshine .. and he was like something about me being unique like a boutique.. so I guess I was unique to him but I don’t know in what way..”
Nicki Minaj went on to talk about what’s she’s learned from Lil Wayne, the internet, Lil Kim, Gucci Mane and how Gucci impresses her, and more.
