Hip-Hop Icon Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels To Be Honored For Contributions To Inner City Youth

Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels, hip hop pioneer of the legendary hip-hop group Run DMC,will be honored by the Rotary Club of Century City at the “Star of the Avenue Gala” dinner come Saturday, May 30, 2009. McDaniels will be given the “Service Above Self” award due to his contributions and commitment to helping disadvantaged inner city youth. The honor by the Rotary Club of Century City, comes after Run DMC was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in early April.

The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, 2025 Avenue Of The Stars in Los Angeles, CA and will begin with a cocktail reception at 6PM with dinner to follow at 7PM. The event will also feature live entertainment including musical performances and comedy.

Proceeds from the Star of the Avenue Award Gala Dinner will benefit the Felix Organization, Streetlight Production Assistant Program, Homeboys Industries, Compton Foundation, and Morningside High School 0711 Program, which are all dedicated to helping youth in the inner city.
