Kelly Rowland Confirms Split With Columbia Records

After numerous reports circulated that Kelly Rowland, of the Grammy award-winning female group Destiny’s Child, who’s now a solo artist, was possibly dropped from her label Columbia Records, the singer has now confirmed that she is no longer with the label.

“Because Columbia Records has been my home base as an artist for more than a decade, the decision to move out on my own required a lot of soul-searching,” said Kelly Rowland. “As a solo artist, I felt the need to explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms outside my comfort zone and my friends and family at Columbia have been incredibly understanding about my evolution. I want to thank everyone at Columbia for the love and support they’ve shown and I will never forget how many good times we’ve had over the years.”

According to reports, the singer is stated to have been dropped due to being “no longer commercially viable,” however her statements and her fans beg to differ.

Prior to leaving the label, Kelly Rowland also severed her business manager relationship with Beyonce Knowles’ father/manager Mathew Knowles. Mathew Knowles is also the manager of the entire group Destiny’s Child which is still signed as a group under Columbia Records.

In other news, Kelly Rowland, 28, has signed on to host the Bravo reality fashion show, “The Fashion Show” as previously reported. The singer will be joined by designer Isaac Mizrahi as a host of the show and Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion Fern Mallis who will be one of the judges on the Bravo upcoming reality design show.
