Soulja Boy Scores No. 1 Single For ‘Kiss Me Thru The Phone’; Rapper Plans New Tour Dates and TV Appearances

Soulja Boy aka rapper Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em continues to ‘prove wrong’ anyone who dared to call him a “one-hit wonder,” as some in the past said of the teen rapper and young businessman after his multitude of success achieved through his 2007 hit song and dance “Crank That Soulja Boy” off his debut album Souljaboytellem.com.

This week, rapper Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em’s hit single “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” featuring Sammie reached #1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 Radio chart.

In addition, “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” has also remained the # 1 ringtone download for eight weeks in a row on Billboard’s Hot Ringmaster’s chart exceeding over 1 million in download sales.

The song “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” is off Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em’s album iSouljaBoyTellem which was released in stores at the end of 2008.

Now with his 2009 hit single “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” featuring Sammie which was boosted to an audience of over 100 million by a 1300-spin increase in radio, the Collipark/Interscope artist is ready to expand beyond performing and being known only for his dance song “Crank That.”

“My fans let me know, enough with that dancing songs for now,” states Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em in a statement released to www.HipHopRX.com by his reps. “Now it’s time to do great music like ‘Kiss Me Through the Phone,’” added Soulja Boy.

“It’s a real record, no gimmick. It’s a catchy record ,’cause that’s what my fans want.”

While the video “Kiss Me Through the Phone” peaked as the # 1 Video on BET’s “106 & Park” thanks to fans votes, and is now being placed into MTV’s general rotation alongside “Turn My Swag On,” which is currently at # 27 on Billboard’s Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Songs chart, Soulja Boy’s craze is not doing too bad at the social networks either.

Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Through the Phone” music video has received over 30 million YouTube views, Soulja Boy’s MySpace page now boasts over 1,000,000 friends and over 200 million listens to his MySpace audio player, while Soulja Boy’s Twitter has gained over 70,000 followers in just the past four weeks bringing his total followers to well over 100,000.

In related news, Soulja Boy is set to appear on BET’s “Spring Bling,” which is expected to complete taping this weekend, and the rapper has plans to announce a new Summer tour which will span from the East Coast to the West Coat up until July.

Last but not least, the rapper is expected to appear in a role on The CW Network’s “The Game” television show, which airs Friday, May 15.
