Macy Gray To Perform New Record At UCLA; Spotted Leaving Medical Center

Funk/Soul singer Macy Gray is expected to be performing at one of the classes at UCLA in the spring. Macy Gray, 41, will also be a guest speaker for a music industry class “The Music Business Now: How It Really Works and the People and Events That Influence It.”

The singer is scheduled to perform April 1, the first day of the spring semester in which she will be performing from a new record that she financed herself and will market, according to sources. Students at UCLA will be helping the singer create a marketing plan to help promote and sell the album as well.

The course is available to UCLA students and to the public for a $595 fee.

Others expected to participate in the class as a guest speaker include No Doubt’s manager Jim Guerinot, Island Def Jam President Steve Bartels, MySpace Music President Courtney Holt, Live Nation Chief Executive and President Michael Rapino, amongst others.

In other news, the singer was spotted leaving a medical center in Beverly Hills, CA text messaging on the way out. No further details are available as to the reason why she was visiting the center.
