Nickelodeon Supports Chris Brown As Kids’ Choice Awards Nominee; Rihanna Also Nominated

While there are outcries and concerns from parents of children that watch the kids/teens channel Nickelodeon, the network for Nickelodeon reportedly will keep Chris Brown as a nominee for the Kids’ Choice Awards due to the kids nominating him months prior to his recent legalities stemming from the alleged assault on his girlfriend, Pop star Rihanna (Robyn Fenty) on February 8th.
The outrage from parents and other protesters were stated to have been sparked when Brown reportedly posted an update on his Facebook urging his fans to vote for him for the Kids’ Choice Awards.
According to Nickelodeon spokesman, Dan Martinsen, “Like all our KCA nominees, Chris Brown was nominated by kids several months ago based on his body of work as a performer, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category,” Martinsen was quoted as saying in a statement.
Although the awards show is nearing and is scheduled for March 28th, Nickelodeon’s decision has not stopped angry parents, organizations and concerned on-lookers from venting, calling, protesting and attempting to sway the network from supporting Brown.
A petition which has been placed online to request the removal of both Chris Brown and Rihanna who recently reconciled their relationship has received close to 5,000 signatures. The request for both to be removed is allegedly due to petitioners believing Chris Brown should have been removed at the time he was initially charged and due to Rihanna continuing her relationship with the singer.
Meanwhile, in other reports, the two are allegedly putting focus back on their music careers and hopes to move forward after their unfortunate incident. However, there is still the matter of the court date re-scheduled for April 6th where Chris Brown faces charges on criminal threats and assault for the alleged fight that occurred with Rihanna.
