President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama shared their first dance as Beyonce Knowles-Carter sang “At Last”, at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

Other guest performers and celebrity appearances included Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Shakira, Nick Cannon (as DJ), Denzel Washington, Queen Latifah, Leonardo DiCaprio, Marc Anthony and wife Jennifer Lopez, Lucy Liu, amongst others.

The free event was broadcast live on ABC with full-coverage on other networks such as MSNBC, CNN and FOX.

Since President Obama is into the latest technology, viewers had the opportunity to watch via the internet through webcasts and text messaging that linked neighborhoods across the U.S. in real time with the events. The Neighborhood Inaugural Ball took place at the Washington Convention Center.
