TI Speaks About The Dirty Awards
Rapper T.I. talks about the Dirty Awards incident that occurred between his and Shawty Lo’s entourages with Shaheem Reid of MTV. The rapper says he came in after the incident and that he also spoke with Shawty Lo briefly during the awards and the words weren’t uphill. T.I. explains it as a lot of ‘nonsense’ and says there’s no place in his life right now for it. The rapper says he’s not trippin, it’s been way over for him.

The initial fight reportedly broke out between Shawty Lo and members of T.I.’s Grand Hustle entourage while Shawty Lo was performing his rendition of the Grand Hustle artist Yung L.A.’s “Ain’t I,” which is his cooked up diss version “Don’t I.” During that time, Grand Hustle’s entourage allegedly began taunting Shawty Lo and arguing back with his entourage on the stage and then threw a chair on stage according to reports.

According to Shawty Lo who spoke with MTV he states, “Basically, I didn’t start saying anything about Tip,” Lo explained. “I was performing my music. During ‘Foolish,’ all of them was coming in front of the stage doing their mugging. After ‘Dunn, Dunn,’ I performed the dis record ‘Don’t I.’ … I ain’t gonna lie; they was disrespecting me. I wasn’t gonna let them disrespect me.”

The 2008 Dirty Awards took place at the Georgia International Convention Center on November 24th and was hosted by Mississippi rapper David Banner. The Dirty Awards attracted such names as OutKast, Ludacris, Janelle Monae, DJ Drama, Trina, Diamond (formerly of Crime Mob), producer Rocko, R&B singer Monica, Bow Wow, Young Dro, Li’l Scrappy, Yung Joc, legendary Doug E. Fresh, Rick Ross, amongst others.
