Reps Say Rihanna Didn’t Collapse In Sydney, Australia; Singer Needed To ”Catch Her Breath”
After allegedly shocking the concertgoers at a live performance in Sydney, Australia on Friday along with fellow singer and boyfriend Chris Brown, pop star Rihanna apparently did not ‘collapse’ or ‘pass out’ due to some ‘health issue’ as rumors had sparked and spread across the internet due to a leaked video of the alleged incident. In the video, Rihanna, at the Acer Arena, can clearly be seen holding her stomach as though she was not feeling well or apparently about to faint just seconds before exiting the stage.
A representative for the singer released a statement stating that the singer “went offstage and needed to sit down” because she had to quote “catch her breath.”
Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, 20, was then reportedly taken to a local hospital for medical treatment because she possibly fell ill due to the venue’s air-conditioning system failing, according to reports by TMZ and Radar magazine.
“It was very hot at the venue, so after Rihanna’s set was over, she went offstage and needed to sit down, catch her breath and have some water,” a rep for the singer told MTV News on Friday (November 7). “She is perfectly healthy and will be at her show tomorrow.”
Rihanna and Chris Brown have been touring in Australia and New Zealand since late last month with one show remaining in Perth, Australia (November 11).
In other news, Rihanna will be one of the live perfomances aired on the 36th Annual American Music Awards on Sunday, November 23rd on ABC at 8:00 – 11:00pm ET/PT. Other expected performers are Pussycat Dolls, Pink, the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift and New Kids On The Block during a night packed with nominations for Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, and others.
