Birdman and Lil Wayne
Louisiana bred rapper Lil Wayne’s label announced on September 15th they have re-signed the rap star to a multi-album deal. The rapper currently has released six albums with the label in which he joined as teenager. Wayne’s latest album The Carter III made this year’s highest selling rap album (2.4 million) in a music industry were music sales are stated to be in a slump.

“Working with our son, Lil Wayne, throughout the many years has helped us build Cash Money into the empire it is today. Cash Money is a family and Lil’ Wayne has been part of our family since day one,” said Bryan “Birdman” Williams, co-founder of Cash Money Records via a statement.

“Now the partnership between Cash Money and Lil Wayne will continue, with a multi-album pact that takes them into the future together,” he added.

In other news, BET (Black Entertainment Television) announced its nominees for its third annual BET Hip Hop Awards. Lil Wayne led with the most nominations (12) which include ‘Lyricist of the Year’ and ‘MVP of the Year’.

The awards ceremony is set to air on October 23rd at 8PM and will be hosted by the infamous comedian/actor Katt Williams.
