Remy Ma
A Manhattan judge on Thursday (January 31) set a tentative date of February 25 for the start of Bronx rapper Remy Ma’s impending trial. Remy Ma stands accused of shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph on July 14 during an argument over missing money.

Previously the rapper was charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors reduced the charge when they allegedly discovered that the weapon fired accidentally. Soon after, the rapper was indicted on a witness tampering charge. The rapper is accused of ordering a group of men to assault the boyfriend of a potential witness.

In December, the victim Makeda Barnes-Joseph filed a $10 million dollar lawsuit against the Remy Ma and several of her record labels, claiming that the companies encouraged her criminal behavior to further her career. The suit was soon amended, Barnes-Joseph now seeks $80 million in damages.
