Judge Denies Rapper C-Miller Interviews To Promote Upcoming Album

C-Murder aka C-Miller
According to rapper/hip-hop star C-Miller “C-Murder” publicist, the 35 year old rapper has been unable to talk to any media since his release from jail, now since Monday the judge has made it clear and has put a number of restrictions in place while supervising his case such has making it final that he will not be allowed any interviews at all to promote his upcoming album.

C-Miller is currently under house arrest as a condition of his $500,000 (£266,446) bail and is awaiting a retrial for the murder of teenager Steve Thomas in Louisiana in 2002 .

Corey Miller “C-Miller” was jailed for life in 2003, but won a retrial because prosecutors withheld information about witnesses which has been uncommon of the majority of hip-hop/rap related trials.

On Monday, Miller’s attorney Ron Rakosky asked Sassone for permission to promote the album entitled “The TRU Story…Continued”. Rakosky said Miller is dependent on the money from his music to support his three children, pay for his legal defense and to renovate his grandmother’s home in New Orleans, which was damaged by flooding after Hurricane Katrina.

Even though C-Miller sought for permission to give promotional interviews for his forthcoming album, prosecutors argued that he had only been given bail to help prepare for his retrial.

“I guess the music will have to speak for itself,” said Louisiana District Judge Martha Sassone.

“Capitol Records will have to find another way to advertise it,” says Judge Sassone. “There’ll be no interviews, no music videos.”

Inaddition, the judge did agree to allow Corey Miller “C-Miller” to have his photograph taken, as well as allow him into his back yard to play with his children as long as it is done at the Kenner residence where he is serving house arrest until his Feb. 26 trial on a second-degree murder charge.

“I would like for him to spend time with his kids,” said Judge Sassone.

Corey Miller’s retrial and his album “The TRU Story…Continued” are scheduled for a February 2007 release and will an estimated 22 tracks.

C-Miller is formerly known as C-Murder of No Limit Records, he has had three top 10 albums.

New York judge threatens to jail rapper Foxy Brown

Foxy Brown
According to sources a New York judge warned a lawyer for Foxy Brown on Monday that the rapper would be arrested and thrown in jail if she missed her sentencing on assault charges.

Inga Marchand “Foxy Brown” had been scheduled to appear Monday morning in Criminal Court in Manhattan, however when her case was called, defense attorney Frank Rothman said his client was home recovering from a dental procedure — an excuse that angered Judge Melissa C. Jackson.

“I don’t take this kindly,” the judge said. “I don’t believe she is incapable of being here.”

The judge on Monday rejected a motion by Foxy Brown to withdraw her guilty plea and said the sentencing would be held on Tuesday. She warned that if the rapper failed to show up, she would void a plea deal sparing her jail time and sentence her to a year behind bars.

Frank Rothman has assured the judge that this time his client would be there. “She’s showing no disrespect,” he said.

Foxy Brown pleaded guilty in August to misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a fight with nail salon workers over a manicure.

The prosecutors said 26-year-old Foxy Brown, kicked one employee and smacked a second in the face on Aug. 29, 2004, in an argument over payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails.

The rapper had claimed she made her plea-deal decision under duress. “I find her plea was entered voluntarily,” the judge said.

The deal would require Brown to serve three years probation and take anger management classes.

Rapper Slick Rick facing deportation once again

Slick Rick
Forthy-one year old british-born rapper Ricky Walters “Slick Rick”, who served five years in prison for attempted murder during the 1990s, is fighting the U.S. government’s efforts to have him deported again, according to his legal representatives.

For the past few years, Slick Rick has been twice allowed by the courts to stay in the U.S. after the Immigration and Naturalization Service ordered him deported. However, sources say that according to his legal team, the Department of Homeland Security has renewed Rick’s case and is attempting to move it to Florida’s 11th Circuit Court in Miami, where he was bizarrely arrested in 2002 for “deporting himself” and “illegally re-entering the country” after performing on a Caribbean cruise ship.

In 2003, an immigration judge permitted Rick to stay in the U.S. due to his “outstanding equities.” At the time, the rapper was facing deportation because of the attempted murder conviction. The longtime New York resident, who came to America when he was 11, was recently stripped of his permanent resident status and his right to leave the country, according to his representatives stated Billboard.com.

“The bottom line is, this is something that happened a decade and six years ago and that’s 16 years ago,” Rick told Billboard.com. “We as Americans need people, not machinery, (to) weed this out so we don’t look insensible in front of the international and intellectual world.”

To help with his cause, Rick has called on the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, which is co-chaired by Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis. In support of the rapper, the organization will hold a press conference Tuesday in front of the Federal Court Building in New York.

“It can’t hurt to let everybody know what’s going on,” said Rick, whose wife, children and parents are all American citizens. “They’re just trying to help people to see certain defects in our judicial system. It’s not really to blame anybody. It’s really to just make sure that everything runs smooth. I have a lot of confidence in America. I just assume that once the issue is brought before the public, everybody will be on the same page. What’s the sense of rehabilitation if we’re going to take something that happened almost two decades ago and punish people? It doesn’t make sense.”

Since then Slick Rick has be participating in tribute shows and events as well as working with music mogul Wendy Day founder of Rap Coalition.

Lil Wayne facing charges for throwing money at University event

Lil Wayne
Dwayne Michael Carter “Lil Wayne” is having a time with the law lately. Recently at a Morgan State University event at the unverisity’s Hill Field House three women were injured with leg damage after someone threw money into the crowd during a performance. No one is for sure who absolutely threw the money, but this incident has caused him to be banned from the university campus. The event featured Busta Rhymes and was a sold out event.

“It was as dangerous a thing to do as standing in a crowded movie theater and shouting, ‘Fire,’” said Clinton Coleman, a Morgan State spokesman. We doubt Lil Wayne was just shouting fire for the hell of it. Could it have been “Fire” from one of his most popular songs.

Officials state that the majority of the money that was thrown were a bunch of $1 bills with a few $5, $10 and $20 bills here and there.

Two of the women both 20 years of age were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The third victim refused treatment.

Rapper Cam’ron in a mix with D.C. Police

Cam’ron
Cameron “Cam’ron” Giles is getting a bad vibe with the D.C. Police due to an investigation being still open on who shot him in Washington last fall. The shooting happened on Oct. 23, 2005, during the Howard University’s homecoming weekend. Cam’ron was in Washington for the event and was driving his royal blue Lamborghini at the time. Cam’ron was said to had stopped at a red light at New York and New Jersey Ave. NW when someone jumped out of a Ford Expedition and shot him in both arms he stated. Cam’ron did manage to drive away, and was said to have boasted about the incident saying that he didn’t give up his car simply because he paid a sum of over $250,000 for it. Since the removal of the bullet from his arms he has be unable to move some of his fingers.

For police things are still a little bit sketchy and there have been no arrests still.

Reports state that rumors are surfing around stating the shooting was staged to help give Cam’ron street credit and jump start his career which it barely did. While the rumors are still floating, police official state that Cam’ron refuses to return phone calls or come to Washington to help with the investigation.

Cam’ron states his reason for refusal is due to him having little faith in the police investigation, simple because no one has been able to solve the murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur.

In the meantime, Cam’ron is getting ready to release a new album in December entitled “Shade Of Black”.

Salon fight gives rapper Foxy Brown 3 years probation

Foxy Brown
Rapper Foxy Brown “Inga Marchand” was sentenced Tuesday to three years probation for a fight with two Manhattan nail salon employees, finally ending an assault case that dragged on for more than two years.

Sources state that Foxy Brown tried to withdraw her guilty plea but a Manhattan judge said the agreement was legitimate and imposed the sentence.

“I’m innocent,” Brown argued before the judge, claiming that she felt rushed at the time that she made the plea agreement. She also asserted that her previous lawyer had told her that she would face jail unless she agreed to the deal.

Judge Melissa C. Jackson, after listening to the last pleas from the rapper and her attorney, rejected the appeal for a two-week extension and new arguments, instead handing down the sentence worked out in earlier negotiations.

“The purpose of a reargument is not to let the parties go over issues that have already been decided,” Judge Melissa C. Jackson said. The judge warned Brown that if she did not abide by the conditions of her probation, the rapper faced a possible sentence of one year in jail.

Foxy Brown arrived at court with her bodyguard and her attorney in a black SUV. Foxy Brown wore black high heels with small white polka dots, sunglasses and skin-tight black pants.

Throughout the trial it has been stated that Foxy Brown hired three different attorneys and has tried once before to change her guilty plea and was threatened with jail time for missing a court appearance on Monday. An angry Judge Melissa C. Jackson promised to throw Brown in jail for a year if she did not show up for the sentencing this past Tuesday.
